Keto Matcha Latte Recipe

Healthy Matcha Latte {Keto, Low-Carb & Paleo}

Brrrrrrrrr…. Baby it’s cold outside, but I’m not complaining! Cool, crisp fall and cold winter weather is my favorite, I love the crunchy vividly colored autumn leaves and the pristine while fluffy snow. I’m a sweater, boots and mug of a warm drink, kind-of gal.

You might just become a fall/winter fan, when you take the first sip of my Ketone Matcha Latte!

Not only is it full of healthy fats and energy boosting matcha, it’s also completely, undeniably, delicious.

After one mug your metabolic fire will be stoked and you won’t mind the chilly temps when you are full of energy to tackle any project in front of you.

Like a massive home-office remodel.

True story.

That’s what’s going on behind the scenes here at HSITK HQ, it was time to upgrade my computer and I opted for a massive 27 inch iMac instead of another laptop. But I realized that I didn’t have a desk to put my new computer on.

It’s time folks. I don’t know why it took so long for me to prioritize my workspace and finally have a creative place to spend my time.

I’m over here feeling like an adult, making adult decisions. The kind of adult that owns her own successful business and stuff…. I guess this is what 40 does to ya! Anyways…. Juggling everything all at once takes a lot of extra energy and my Keto Matcha Latte is what’s been keeping me going.

Why Matcha???

I’m sensitive to caffeine, I can only have 1 or maybe 2 cups of coffee a day and they MUST be before 10 am. If I drink any caffeinated beverages (black iced tea, green tea, etc) after 10 am, I will NOT be able to sleep well.

But Matcha is different. While it’s simply dried green tea leaves that are ground into a powder, the way the body utilizes the whole leaf isn’t the same as steeped green tea leaves or other caffeinated beverages. Matcha gives you clean, long lasting energy that’s not stimulative. It’s gentle and won’t give you that wired feeling.

Also matcha is insanely healthy, much healthier than coffee or brewed tea.

If you don’t already have a favorite brand of matcha, I suggest THIS Organic Matcha

Choosing the BEST Milk to Froth, even Dairy Free!

Next we gotta talk about how to get that milk frothing… here’s the thing. If you’re Dairy-Free, Paleo or like me just like to mix-it up…. finding a dairy-free milk that actually makes a thick, luxurious froth is challenging. Even the best baristas struggle.

But of course, I’ve got the solution…. NutPods.

Seriously. This isn’t a sponsored post. I’ve never even spoken to the NutPods folks but I sincerely love their stuff. I started out purchasing NutPods on Amazon (because Amazon is awesome and easy) but then found that they are super-cheap when purchased by the case though our local Azure Standard Drop.

I like the Original and French Vanilla Nutpods, keeping my pantry stocked with them at all times. They also have Hazelnut but I’m not a hazelnut-gal.

While I do consume dairy I still stick to NutPods for my lattes since they froth so well, taste so good and are low in carbs. When it comes to using diary in this recipe, your best option will be half and half. Heavy cream won’t froth (tried it) and milk has too many carbs. Half and Half is the obvious middle ground and it’s super yummy too.

If you’re not worried about carbs, the best milk for frothing generally speaking will be skimmed raw milk. Save that bliss full cream for later and use the skimmed milk left over for frothing. Talk about thick, foamy goodness.

My Favorite way to Froth Milk

Much like finding the right ‘milk’ can be challenging, there’s a polethra of frothing appliances and gadgets available. Most of which are a hassle and a waste of money. Again I can only speak from my own experience and share what I’ve found works best for me.

If you’ve followed me for any length of time, then you already know that I’m no-nonsense when it comes to cooking. While I love a gadget, for me to keep it in my kitchen it has to be honestly worth it. I’ve tried many options for frothing milk… including steam frothing espresso machines, hand whisked on the stove top, $5 battery operated frothers and stand-alone frothers.

THIS Milk Frother will literally froth-your-socks off.

the BEST milk frother for my Keto Matcha Latte

(I’m really funny, huh?)

Again not sponsored… just honestly love it.

Not only do I use it to make frothy milk – it’s also how I make my bulletproof coffee every morning, make hot chocolate and even make hollindaise sauce.

Oh and one last thing, the frothing container is stainless steel. Not coated with non-stick toxic chemicals.
