Is Lobster Keto?

Not only is lobster perfect for a low carb or keto diet, Lobster actually contains Zero Carbs!

One cup of Lobster contains roughly 129 calories, 1.25g of fat, 27.5g of protein, and 0 grams of carbohydrates.

And since lobster is high in protein but low in fat, it’s practically begging to be enjoyed with extra fat, like this Keto Lobster Roll Salad Recipe!

How to make the Best Lobster Salad

Fresh lobster meat makes the salad. If you live near the Maine shore, you can cook up your very own live lobsters and pick the meat. A 1 1/4 lb. lobster will yield approximately 4 oz. of lobster meat, you’ll need roughly 4-5 live lobsters to yield 1 pound of lobster meat.

But, if you don’t live next to the shore, you can also use fresh frozen lobster meat.

To be as authentic as possible, a traditional lobster salad should be very basic. Simply combine Mayonnaise, Dijon Mustard, Fresh Lemon Juice, Salt and Pepper, served atop a bed of fresh lobster meat.

Less is more when you are working with delicious ingredients like lobster.

That being said, while I totally respect the authenticity of a basic time-honored recipe…. Ray also LOVES a few extras in his lobster salad.

And that’s what truly makes this the Best Lobster Salad Recipe!

I’m giving you permission to start with the basic, tried and true, lobster salad recipe and make it perfect for YOU!

It’s up to you if you want to add in some finely chopped celery and thinly sliced green onions to your low carb lobster roll salad.

Purists will say lobster rolls and lobster salads shouldn’t have celery or onion but they aren’t you. You do you.

We also love to add both celery and onion to our homemade seafood salad too!

How to make a Keto Lobster Roll

Traditionally lobster salad and lobster rolls are 2 completely different recipes. When talking to lobster experts, to make a lobster roll you don’t simply wrap up lobster salad in bread.

This Lobster Roll Guide will give you all the details on a traditional lobster roll and how to make them the traditional way.

In a nut shell there are 2 primary lobster roll camps: Maine-style Lobster Roll is served cold, lobster + mayo in a toasted bun and Connecticut-style  is served warm, lobster + melted butter in a toasted bun.

Trust me, I’m all about enjoying lobster in its simplistic deliciousness however I also give you permission to wrap this Keto Lobster Salad into a roll and enjoy it too!

That’s how we live our lives… enjoying food how it works for YOU is always better than following someone else’s rules.

If you’re looking for a hand held lobster roll, but want to stay keto feel free to wrap your lobster salad into a lettuce leaves… Using the lobster salad gives you that extra fat that most keto diet templates require.

However, if you just NEED that a bun to enjoy your lobster salad… I highly recommend these KETO HOT DOG BUNS. They are serious deliciousness.

THESE Low Carb Buns are the closest I’ve found to real-bread, with only 6g net carbs per serving.

Just don’t forget to give those buns a quick coating of butter then toast them in a skillet to get the most authentic lobster roll experience!

Any way you choose to enjoy this Keto Lobster Roll Salad Recipe, you won’t be disappointed!

I hope you enjoy this recipe and be sure to stock up your freezer with a few packs of frozen lobster meat for when that lobster salad roll craving hits!

Yours in Health,

Hayley Ryczek
