Homemade Everything Bagel Seasoning
Perhaps you’ve noticed that “Everything Bagel Seasoning” seems to be the hot spice blend of the moment. People are literally putting it on All.The.Things… and I’m not any different. It was love at first taste for me too!
My addiction to Everything Bagel Started out buying THIS version but quickly I noticed that it’s so incredibly salty! Like WAAAAY too much salt. Ouch.
Which lead me to creating my own, even better, less salty version!
But wait, I’m not saying salt is bad, ok processed salt we should avoid, but naturally derived sea salts are extremely beneficial and we shouldn’t fear using sea salt liberally. I’m just talking about the too-salty flavor of THIS store bought blend. K?
Confused about salt and if it’s truly healthy? I recommend reading THIS amazing book before you shy away from salt.
Feel free to use this spice combination as in inspiration to create your own unique blend which suits your tastes perfectly – or using what ingredients you already have on hand.
I do feel it’s necessary to use minced dried onion and garlic and NOT granulated or powdered versions. You want your Everything Bagel Seasoning to be chunky, not powdery.
- 2 teaspoons sesame seeds
- 1 teaspoon black sesame seeds
- 1 teaspoon Poppy Seeds
- 1 teaspoon Dried Minced Onion
- 1 teaspoon Organic Dried Minced Garlic
- 1 teaspoon organic dried chives
- 1/4 teaspoon Kosher Flaked Sea Salt
- Combine all ingredients and store in an air tight container.
Oh, I so agree with you on the saltiness of the other kind. I excitedly made a fat bomb from another blog that used it, and had to throw the batch out because it was way too salty for me. I can’t wait to make your homemade version and your fat bomb!
