All Natural Homemade Boogie Wipes
OMG. Seriously. I have a post on my blog with “Boogie” in the title. How did this happen!?!? Well, it happened because I have a super adorable great-niece, Jocelyn and she’s got a runny nose – of course Aunt Hayley came to the rescue with some All Natural Homemade Boogie Wipes!
When I started looking at the ingredients in store-bought boogie wipes I immediately thought NO WAY should these chemical-laden cloths be used on kids skin! Yuck! With a little creativity it was easy to create my own recipe that not only cleans off the icky, snotty mess, but also are calming, decongesting and immune boosting.
In addition to a few natural ingredients, you’ll also need the wipes themselves. Last year in my attempt to transition away from disposable paper towels, I stocked up on 1-ply Organic Paperless Towels and use them for many things, in addition to my All Natural Homemade Boogie Wipes. While I mostly use them for little messes and cleaning, they are also fab as a face-wash cloth!
Oh – Yes and you’ll need a container to keep your All Natural Homemade Boogie Wipes. I used a tightly sealing glass container I had on hand, but a recycled baby wipe container would work great too.
I recommend using 2 Essential Oils in my Homemade Non-Toxic Boogie Wipes; Lavender Bulgaria Essential Oil and Eucalyptus Citriodora Essential Oil. Working in combination, they help to sooth irritated noses, open breathing passages and loosen/eliminate mucus, while offering a general feeling of calm and relaxation.
Lavender Bulgaria Essential Oil (Lavandula angustifolia) is also commonly known as English Lavender, Garden Lavender, Common Lavender, True Lavender, and Narrow-Leaved Lavender. Lavender Bulgaria Essential Oil has a medium-strength floral, herbaceous, sweet, and woody aroma presenting a top-middle fragrance note.
Lavender Bulgaria helps to reduce the discomfort of dry, irritated skin that’s often found with runny noses, aids in relaxing and supports a strong immune system. Also it’s beneficial in loosening mucus.
Eucalyptus Citriodora Essential Oil (Eucalyptus citriodora) is also commonly known as Gum Tree, Lemon-Scented Gum, and Corymbia Citriodora. Eucalyptus citriodora Essential Oil is characterized by its strong, fresh, sweet, and balsamic aroma presenting a top fragrance note.
The citronella-like Eucalyptus citriodora Essential oil promotes a healthy  immune system and helps reinvigorate the respiratory tract, both loosening mucus and easing a dry throat while also relaxing the chest and opening the breathing passages. Additionally, it may temporarily help relieve pain associated with dry/irritated delicate nasal skin.
Eucalyptus Citriodora Essential Oil is also my favorite aromatherapy oil to diffuse anytime there’s even the hint of cough, congestion or runny nose. It was so cute to see how well Jocelyn responded not only to my All Natural Homemade Boogie Wipes but to the Eucalyptus Citriodora Essential Oil itself.
I caught her numerous times with her face near my Diffuser’s mist with a big smile on her face, that right there tells you it felt good on her inflamed nasal passages! And obviously by the photo, she wanted the bottle all to herself!

Ingredients
- 1 drop Eucalyptus Citriodora Essential Oil
- 3 drops Lavender Essential Oil
- 1 tablespoon Witch Hazel
- 2 tablespoons 100% Aloe Vera Gel
- 2 capsules vitamin e 1,000 ius
- 1/2 teaspoon Sea Salt
- 3/4+ cups Water, filtered heated
- 6 to 10 organic paperless towels
Instructions
- In a 1 cup measuring cup place all ingredients, adding the warm water last to make 1 cup. Mix well to dissolve the sea salt.
- Pour mixture over your cloths, making sure they are completely saturated. Allow to cool.
- Squeeze out the excess liquid
- Transfer to their final storage container
